Guavas with Lemon Meringue
- 1 can (800 g) Herdez Whole Guavas
- 2 egg whites
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- Cinnamon sticks, to garnish
Directions
Serves 4-6
- Preheat the oven to the highest temperature.
- Begin to beat the egg whites on a medium low speed.
- Add cream of tartar and increase the speed.
- When the whites are foamy add the sugar and lemon juice.
- Continue beating until the peaks hold their shape.
- Cut the Herdez Whole Guavas widthwise in halves, reserving the syrup, scooping out the flesh and seeds.
- Place on a heatproof serving dish and fill the halved guavas with the egg mixture.
- Broil for 2 minutes or until slightly golden.
- On individual plates spoon some syrup, place the halved guavas and garnish with cinnamon sticks.
