Boeuf A La Mode
Ingredients
- 2 lbs stewing beef cut into 1" cubes
- 1 tsp St-Hubert beef stew season mix
- ½ cup all purpose flour
- 2 tbsp bacon drippings
- 1½ cups burgundy wine
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 bay leaf
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp beef bouillon concentrate
- ½ tsp thyme
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 1½ cups sliced mushrooms
- 1½ cups sliced onion
- 2 tbsp butter/margarine
- 6 sliced bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
- parsley
- hot buttered noodles
Directions
Serves 6
- Dredge meet with flour, cook in bacon drippings in large saucepan until brown; drain off excess fat.
- Stir in wine and just enough water to cover beef.
- Add garlic, salt, beef bouillon, thyme and pepper; heat to boiling; reduce heat and simmer 1½h or until beef is tender.
- Cook and stir onions and mushrooms in butter until tender.
- Stir bacon, onions and mushrooms into beef, cover and simmer 10 min.
- Remove bay leaf; serve over hot buttered noodles garnished with parsley.
